In case you weren't keeping track we move a lot.
May 2010 - Moved from CT after graduating from school to our hometown
August 2010 - Moved to a new city to start my first post grad- school job
June 2011 - Moved to serve as the pastor in my first church
June 2012 - Moving once again to serve at a new church
In my denomination pastors are appointed to churches by the bishop. We go where we are called and so in just one month we are packing everything up again.
It's bittersweet. I have grown very fond of my current congregation. So many relationships made and it's so very hard to leave them. I'm invested in their lives and their families and I'm already mourning the loss of those relationships.
I am excited for the new position and the new challenges that this new church will bring. I just hope Eli & Emmy will transition okay.
As they get older I'm mindful that moving will get increasingly difficult.
My other hope is that Marcus can find work in our new area. There are many more job opportunities so I hope it will be a positive change for all of us. Once we work all the kinks out.

The thing about my job...
is I always have work to do. It doesn't matter if I'm on vacation or not I always have things to do, phone calls to make, things to write.
I'm still not feeling very good today. The kids played all day with their cousin. I love watching their relationship. I tried to nap but couldn't because I felt to bad plus I just have so many things to and so many things on my mind. I hope I'm able to get some sleep tonight.

They had "ice cream" Unintentionally I discovered it's a very good thing to have each kids have a different color. I could identify who made which mess all over the house.

We drove for a very long time...
somewhere around hour 10 I decided having two 3 year olds was hard.
Although my aunt reminded me I said the same thing about having two 2 year olds, and two 1 year olds, and 2 newborns haha.
My moment of revelation was at a McDonalds. We stopped for some ice-cream (it was only 109 degrees). Eli my cute boy had his temperatures a little messed up. We got out of the car and he said, "It's hot out here... I need my sweatshirt" haha
Anyways, we were in McDonalds, both kids had ice cream cones, and Marcus announced he was going to the bathroom.
Both kids immediately dropped their cones and said, "I go bathroom too"
I kept them by me, and tried to clean up the mess, and keep them from chasing after Marcus, but it was a constant, "I go too! I go with daddy!! I go with daddy! I need to go to the bathroom!"
Fun times.
Eli also kept saying, "I want to drive" if only we could turn the wheel over.
But we made it. We're spending the first part of the week with family and then a couple of my friends from grad. school are getting married!
Bachelorette party thursday, rehearsal dinner friday, wedding saturday with friends I don't get to see often. I'm so excited!! Hopefully I feel better, I caught whatever has been going around our house.
Good night.

Multi-Tasking...
In this sense she's totally my daughter. She might have even learned this trick from me.
New book and couldn't wait to get home to start reading.

My babies turned 3 (Over a week ago)...
I'm a little behind but things have been busy. May and the approach of Summer has a way of just being a busy season.
Last Tuesday my little babies that started out at just 3lbs turned 3 years old. Time seems to go so fast, and even looking at pictures from 6 months ago it's clear just how much they've grown.
They're talking more and more. In fact they never stop talking (even if we can't understand what they're saying). Which doesn't seem to bother Eli but when we can't understand Emerson she's gets really upset with us.
Potty training is still chugging along. We're not close at all, Emmy seems slightly more willing, but not really, and Eli just isn't consistent. Somedays he insists on wearing a diaper and some days he doesn't.
Their birthday this year was a low key affair. Just us and some of our friends and their two kids. I liked it that way. Birthdays are a lot of work. Those crazy beautiful parties on Pinterest makes me exhausting.
They had a monkey party, and an accidental water party. When you have four kids outside in the heat with a hose present, I suppose that's bound to happen.
Pizza for dinner and monkey cake.

Emmy loved opening presents. She didn't even stop to see what she got. Just opened one and started on the next.
Their monkey cake. (From a distance it looks okay)
Blowing out the candle (we accidentally threw away the rest of them so they had to just share one).

I made the banner. It took forever but it was free.

Things to post...
I actually have posts and pictures but I just haven't had the energy to do it as of late.
I'm exhausted and my Crohn's isn't being very nice to me at the moment (I'm pretty sure it's all related).
So in the meantime here are some more random things my children have said:
~Emmy recently decided she wanted both her fingers and toes painted. So I obliged (I have no idea where she gets this stuff I don't paint my toenails or fingernails). She was very pleased and went along her away.
Yesterday, when she was in the living room and I was in the next room I hear a loud "OH MAN" and then she comes running to me. She chipped the paint on one of her nails and this was a tragedy of epic proportion. I had to touch them up immediately.
Eli also has his nails and toes painted and he proudly shows everyone he sees. The reactions have all been really kind (people can get so weird about that kind of thing).
This morning she woke me up concerned because her toenails had chipped. I told her to tell her dad but he didn't understand the concern so we retouched her toes this morning. Seriously, where did she come from?
~ The other day I was driving to town and Emmy out of nowhere says, "mama I'm very pretty"
~I curled Emerson's hair for the first time today and when she looked at it in the mirror she freaked out and started yelling, "Take it off, take it off! I had no idea it would be so traumatic for her.
~ Eli continues to try and be sneaky. He loves to try and steal drinks of my soda. For some reason he thinks if he moves really slowly I can't see what he's doing.
~ He also hides things behind his back and is pretty sure we won't catch on to what he's doing.
~ He loves fruit snacks and I told him he couldn't have any more for the day. I left the room and returned to find that he dragged a chair over to the counter, climbed up took a fruit snack, found scissors and opened them. He was pretty please with himself, I was not amused.
~ For their birthdays they got leap pads. Depending on the moment they call it, their iPod, computer, or phone. Kids these days and their technology.
I'm off to bed. I hope to have a real post soon.

Running & Potty Training ...
Marcus and I have both been running consistently for the past several months, so of course Eli and Emerson have become runners too. They watch us warm up, run, stretch, cool down etc. Emmy works on her form and using her arms properly while running. They take the whole thing very seriously and we even bought them running clothes.
Today we were at the grocery store trying to get a few things for their birthday when Eli needed to use the bathroom. All those who have been in the Potty Training trenches know that when this happens you drop everything and run to the nearest bathroom.
And those of you with twins know that where one goes often the other must follow. I left Marcus to pay and Eli, Emmy, and I started our "run" across the store (it was a fast walk for me but they were both running).
We were half way across the store when Emerson suddenly said, "Wait I need to stretch."
So we took a few seconds so they could stretch their legs.
And we made it to the bathroom running injury free and potty accident free.
To all you runners remember the importance of stretching :~)
Haha, they crack me up.

Computer troubles...
We own two laptops and both of them have issues.
Marcus dropped his ipod on his computer (I think this is a first world problem) and the screen cracked on the inside. Does that even make sense. Anyways, so you can only see the very top right hand corner and it makes trying to do anything maddening.
My computer screen won't stay on and I can't open it all the way or the screen just goes black. I also have no "l" key or question mark key because Eli or Emmy dumped water on that portion of the computer.
So I just haven't had the energy to try and make a blog post of any kind. Using our computers requires a lot of effort. Writing my sermon is super fun. How did we exist before computers.
I've seen Jonathan Edwards (he's a preacher and theologian from the 1700s), anyways Yale owns some of his original stuff and I saw one of his sermons. It was handwritten in teeny tiny little writing on a card that fit inside of his had. It had various sides that he could then turn and read off of.
I think mostly he made it up as he went along, maybe I should try that this week and see what happens. His most famous sermons is "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" I don't think I really want to emulate him.
This has gotten way off topic. I should go to bed.
However, since I"m off topic, I should mention that Eli and Emmy are beyond excited for their birthday.
They keep saying, "I want cake, presents, balloons, ice cream and blueberries"
Emmy today told me she wants a pink present and bubba would like a green one. We're going to celebrate their bithday on sunday. I'm going to try and make a monkey cake, it might end up being one of the ugliest cakes ever but it can't really be worse than the cakes I've made them for their other two birhdays. haha at least the cakes are made with love even if they're not pretty.

What I read in March & April...
I read such a random assortment of books these past couple of months. Some of there were awful, Ice T for example. Horrible he writes just like he talks on law and order only worse.
Fifty Shades of Grey... the entire universe is talking about it so I decided to see what all the fuss was about. It's horrible, the writing, the content, the relationship dynamics. Not good at all.
The Stand was good though, my eyes were tired when I was done with the 1152 pages but it was worth it.
March
1. Ice: A Memoir of Gangster life & redemption by Ice T
2. lone Wolf by Jodi Picoult
3. Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Peterson
4. The Rivals by Daisy Whitney
5. The Matter of Marriage by Debbie Macomber
6. Run by Ann Pachett
7. Fifty Shades of Grey by E.l. James
8. In the land of Invisible Women: A Female Doctor's Journey in the Saudi Kingdom by Quanta Ahmed
April
1. We need to Talk About Keven by lionel Shriver
2. Home Front by Kristin Hannah
3. Sisterhood Everlasting by Ann Brashares
4. Blue like Jazz by Donald Miller
5. The last Child by John Hart
6. The Book of Jonas by Stephen Dau
7. Save Me by lisa Scottoline
8. Charlie St. Cloud by Ben Sherwood
9. My Own Country by Abraham Verghese
10. The Stand by Stephen King
Total for the Year: 41
